ORIGINAL GEM!  VERY RARE!  Gallé Bleeding Hearts Vase - Circa 1900 or Earlier

Front of Gallé Vase

Back of Gallé Vase Side View of Gallé Vase

Gallé bleeding hearts vase – dimensions are 7” tall x 6-1/2” wide by 3-3/4” deep, decorated with bleeding hearts flowers, wheel cut, signed in the cameo, “Gallé”, circa 1900 or before.  An extremely rare vase due to the shape and decoration.  We have never seen this edition in any auction results or catalogues of his works.

Gallé was born in Nancy, France and was considered the greatest master craftsman in glass, even within his own time.  The workshop that he founded in 1874 produced both ceramics and glass, but it is as a glass artist that Gallé is best known.  In his search for a new approach to modeling glass, Gallé invented several new techniques and worked constantly to develop other methods.  The Gallé works continued after his death in 1904 until 1913.
